Robab and Afghan Music (Daud Khan Sadozai)

Daud Khan Sadozai is one of the foremost exponents of robab, the afghani plucked lute. Daud Khan, was born in Kabul/Afghanistan in 1955 and he studied Robab with Ustad Muhammad Umar, who was the most famous Robab-interpret of the classical style as well as the traditional folklore style in his country.

The knowledge about building as well as playing the Robab has become rare, and only a few artists still keep the tradition of the classical robab-style which was  mainly represented by Ustad Muhammad Umar in Kabul.

In his seminar he will teach both technique for robab and traditional instrumental and vocal repertoire from Afghanistan, therefore the seminar is open to any instrumentalist and to singers though part of the didactics will be focused on Robab playing technique.

The ability of reading musical scores is not required in this seminar which is open to all levels.
